• Airfare & Travel Insurance | We recommend flying into Cancun International Airport (CUN) and purchasing the travel insurance of your choice. At the minimum we advise only booking changeable or fully refundable flights. Another option can be flying into the Tulum International Airport (TQO) but, we may not be able to include the group airport shuttle so please do reach out to us before booking.
• Airport Transport | Depending on your fight, transportation to/from Casa Xixim and your airport may not be included if it’s outside our group planning. Please see Arrival & Departure FAQ details.
• Alcohol | Alcohol is not included/available with meals nor incorporated into camp schedule. Zero proof elixirs and mocktails are included.
• 1-2 Planned Restaurant Meals | Depending on our excursion schedule we will likely eat 1-2 meals at restaurants.
• Optional Activities | Some optional activities available at an added cost: in-house massage, taxi fees during personal time, personal purchases, etc.
• Laundry | Laundry services are not provided at Casa Xixim. We recommend not planning on needing laundry services. If needed, guests may hand wash garments using the eco-friendly hand soap or shampoo we provide (due to our delicate wetlands house system)—although drying may take considerable time due to humidity. If urgent, guests may opt to taxi into town to a local laundromat.

Yes! Sometimes getting away on your own is easier, and can be the best way to get the most out of camp. We’ll make sure you feel included, and there will be plenty of opportunity to have some personal time.

Honestly, it’s not about the age, it’s about the mindset – open, curious, fun, supportive, adventurous, grounded. Calling in the aunties, sisters, muses, mentors, mentees, girl bosses and co-conspirators. We’ll be going on walks, do gentle yoga, boating, swimming, riding bikes (or a bike taxi if that’s helpful), climbing a mayan pyramid (or enjoying the shade while others huff it up), and hanging out at our pool and beach with SUPs and kayaks. You should come.

Details are being finalized, but we have a rhythm for the way our days will flow and you can view high level info in the CAMP ACTIVITIES section above. Group activities are accommodating for various levels of experience and we can adapt as needed for your comfort. Participation is encouraged but always optional. Initially we’ll be a group of strangers, so to help us drop into our group’s energy, each session has a theme. Each session’s activities offer an opportunity to interpret experiences through the lens of its celestial theme: Snow Moon Session will align with powerfully charged inspiration for intention and release because of Earth’s full moon, and Deep-Sky Session will align with aspects of energy, courage, growth and wisdom because of the prime viewing positioning of outer planets Mars and Jupiter. We’re also inviting everyone to join in reading a pre-selected, session-specific chapter or two from Braiding Sweetgrass. Copies of the book will be available in the bedrooms if you wish to partake.

We’ll do our best to have everyone arrive at the Cancun Airport in the 2:00pm – 4:00pm range. This allows us to coordinate round trip private transportation for our group. We’ll keep our eyes on things in case timeframe may need to shift, or break into 2 groups if necessary. For departure, we’ll have a private transportation depart Casa Xixim at 11am for Cancun Airport flights departing from 2:30pm on. These group ground transport fees are included in your booking.

If you need to arrive/depart earlier or later than the group, please reach out so we can help you coordinate your own transportation — or brainstorm ways to sync up with the group, if possible. Please also reach out if you need any recommendations for accommodations before or after the retreat.

At Casa Xixim, dining goes beyond just a meal – it’s an exploration of Tulum’s vibrant flavors in a relaxing, family-style setting. Every meal offers a chance to enjoy a gourmet vacation dining experience that artfully combines regional traditions with contemporary plant-forward ingredients, with dairy and some seafood. Our private chef service offers a new way to enjoy group and family travel, combining gourmet dining without the fuss. Everyone gets to relax and enjoy time together while all the logistics around meals are covered. Going even further, we enlisted renown Chef Joaquin Cardoso of Mexico City to create our menu for our two house chefs. In consideration of our remote location, persons with medical food allergies should consider if this family-style meal service is appropriate. Reliable medical services are not located nearby, and would require a taxi to Playa del Carmen or Cancun. In all cases, we ask for guests to bring any necessary medications, epi-pens, and digestive aids for their own safety and personal comfort.

We provide large water coolers of drinking water. Please make yourself at home and help yourself to glasses in the kitchen. Coolers are located in the kitchen and the upstairs hallway, and are replaced as needed. Our tap water is not drinkable. For your convenience, glass bottles of drinking water are also provided in each bathroom for brushing teeth. Please don’t purchase single-use water bottles (we don’t have recycling). We recommend bringing your personal travel bottle to fill up, for hydrating on-the-go.

Camp Xixim is all inclusive in regards to accommodations, group transport, house meals, and baseline Casa Xixim staff tips (you are welcome to chip in more if you’d like). We strongly recommend bringing some spending cash for your personal needs/interests, and getting pesos in advance at your home bank or at the airport. ATMs are not located at Soliman Bay. If you go to the town of Tulum for an ATM, we recommend banks: Bancomer, Banamex, HSBC, and Scotia (avoid 3rd party vendors). Most businesses accept major credit cards but you may not get a great rate. Cash pesos is king. Please feel free to ask our advice on how much money you should bring based on your interests.

WiFi / INTERNET
Free use of WiFi is included for guests, and login details are posted in the living room. As a net metered solar home we are subject to the instability of the municipal grid and may also experience intermittent electric, cellular and internet service. The internet connection can be spotty or go out periodically.

PHONE
We do not have a landline phone. Your mobile phone will work best via WiFi with WhatsApp. Please be sure to bring any necessary charging cords for your devices as these items are not easy to purchase in Tulum.

MEDIA
We have a Roku, projector and screen for which you can connect to your streaming subscriptions. Bluetooth speakers are located in each bedroom.

NOTE: ACs are serviced every other month to ensure they are working properly. Please contact the House Manger if you are having any trouble getting the ACs to work well.

TIPS FOR USING AC

• ACs are in each bedroom, and we ask you to only use at night while you are sleeping—more or less 9pm-9am. Even though we have solar panels we are net metered (tied into the grid), and high energy use has a costly environmental impact.
• We do not have glass windows so the efficiency of the AC greatly depends on closing up all doors, closing shutters completely, and closing the bathroom doors is critical as well.
• A good temperature setting is 70°F / 21°C
• If you need help adjusting the ACs for your comfort please ask your Hosts for assistance. We can also determine if the remotes need fresh batteries, or if AC servicing is needed.

We feel it’s a good idea to remind our guests that they are traveling to a somewhat remote and rustic location. While it’s wonderful to “get away” to Soliman Bay in an eco-luxe villa, we want to emphasize that we located on a wild stretch of beachfront, mangrove jungle. This means we have to accept the whims of Mother Nature—weather can be blazing hot (we have fans and bedroom AC), it can rain (we have umbrellas), it can be a bit buggy (we have spray and screened windows), we are visited by a variety of flora and fauna (sea turtles, crabs, birds, geckos, insects, etc.) and we are subject to the Caribbean’s sargasso seaweed (we clean it up as it comes in). We do not have glass windows by design, we encourage the sea breeze to come through. Walls slide open and closed. Please let us know if you have questions.

Pease be aware that there is no lifeguard at our Soliman Bay beach, or at our private Casa Xixim pool. For safety reasons, only those listed on the house guest list are allowed at Casa Xixim. Children must always be supervised by an adult. Life jackets are provided for guests, please wear them at all times when enjoying activities in the bay. Never swim, snorkel, kayak or sup-board alone or in close proximity to the large waves that form the break. Do not go past the break into the open ocean, and always avoid the rip current as indicated in the diagram:

Camp Xixim Cancellation Policy
The $500 booking deposits are non-refundable unless we find someone to take your spot. Balance is due 60 days before arrival. Any cancellations must be received by email at least 31 days prior to your arrival date to be eligible for 50% of amount paid.

Cancellation notifications made within 30 days of arrival are ineligible for a refund. No refunds will be issued for the cancellation of a portion of a reserved stay or a reduction in the size of your party made within 30 days of arrival, unless the room is re-rented and occupied — in which case, the refunded portion will be increased by the amount recovered from re-renting the room.

A last-minute cancellation gives us little chance of filling the space. For this reason, we uphold a strict deposit and cancellation policy. Should it be necessary for you to depart earlier or arrive later than your confirmed dates, you will be responsible for payment of the original reserved dates or room nights of your intended stay.

The ancient Maya word Xixim (shee-SHEEM) is written as a conch shell glyph meaning “zero”. We chose this conch symbol, a rare and endangered sea creature, to remind us to be true to our goal of being as sustainable as possible. We aim to capture the daily resources needed, work in harmony with nature, and to leave a light footprint – all without sacrificing modern comforts. The design of our Casa Xixim logo is built with the shape of this conch symbol. The symbol is arranged to compose the wings of the locally abundant and lighthearted butterfly, representing transformation and new beginnings.

The CAMP XIXIM setting invites both curiosity and introspection as a means of sustainable relationships. Connecting with oneself, and the sisterhood of camp offers an ease towards living a light footprint, on the Earth and with each other. For those seeking to be a more thoughtful traveler, Casa Xixim is a vacation where one can get away and get totally zenned-out without trampling over everything or anyone in the process. Our guiding beliefs, the Xixim Ethos, began as a feeling inspired by the raw beauty of this beach and has evolved into our daily practice. One thing to note with care in regards to this retreat, we are not equipped to help those needing deep or heavy processing. This retreat provides a container to explore ideas and points of view with the goal to find harmony and connection.
